Geography and Climate

Location :-
Trincomalee is situated about 257 kilometers (160 miles) northeast of Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka.
Climate :-
The city experiences a tropical climate with two main seasons: the dry season (March to August) and the wet season (October to February), influenced by the northeast monsoon. Temperatures are generally warm year-round, averaging around 26-30°C (79-86°F).

History

Ancient Port:-
Trincomalee has been an important port city for over two millennia. Its strategic location made it a key naval base during the colonial period, attracting Portuguese, Dutch, French, and British colonial powers.
Koneswaram Temple:-
One of the most famous landmarks in Trincomalee is the Koneswaram Temple, a Hindu temple with origins dating back to 205 BC. It is dedicated to Lord Shiva and is known for its dramatic location on Swami Rock, overlooking the Indian Ocean.
